Job Description

As a member of the Executive Team the VP of Revenue Cycle Management will provide leadership and oversight to all aspects of the revenue cycle.  The VP will collaborate with revenue cycle stakeholders including Clinical, Financial, Regulatory, other Corporate and Divisional Leadership to ensure effective revenue cycle management.   The VP will be a proactive and responsive leader, overseeing the systems of a rapidly changing business environment. 
Essential Duties and Functions

Leadership, Staff Management and Organizational Strategy
  • Promotes and supports a working environment consistent with the values-based culture of RHD
  • Provides values-based supervision, support, and guidance to direct reports; identifies and creates leadership and professional development opportunities for direct reports
  • Provides support, training, and education of revenue cycle management (RCM) to the Executive Team and other leadership
  • Partners with VP Business Development in the monitoring of market and industry data and trends to inform business development decisions
  • Partners with Executive Team and other stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives through successful implementation/completion of strategic initiatives
Electronic Health Record (EHR)/Other RCM Technology
  • Partners with Clinical Leadership to provide vision and direction for the EHR
  • Leads electronic health record (EHR) design, development, and implementation
  • Partners with corporate, divisional, and program leadership to assess and implement technology to enhance revenue cycle management
  • Provides and/or supports project management of EHR implementation and other Revenue Cycle Management Initiatives
  • Ensures integrity of the EHR and related processes to minimize organizational risk
  • Ensures systems and processes are in place to maintain and support the use of the EHR
  • Partners with Business Systems Technology to manage vendor relationships related to revenue cycle management
Revenue Cycle Management
  • Provides direction and oversight of Revenue Cycle Operations, including but not limited to charge capture, billing, claim follow-up and collections, payment application, and denials management.
  • Partners with corporate, division and program management around all aspects of the revenue cycle
  • Tracks and monitors key revenue cycle performance indicators; reports key findings to appropriate leadership and stakeholders across the organization
  • Ensures systems and processes are in place to ensure compliance with contract requirements around submission of claims; including service provision/documentation, established fee schedules, credentialing, and site enrollments
  • Partners with the Business Development Team and division management to manage payer contracts and support payer relationships
  • Provides guidance and supports provider enrollment and payer credentialing
  • Provides oversight, in collaboration with financial leadership,  on the general ledger close as it relates to revenue, accounts receivable and billing

Corporate Accounts Receivable Management and Reporting
  • Monitors and reports on accounts receivable monthly to management; providing analysis of trends in aged balances across divisions, customers, and programs as well compared to trends in the industry
  • Monitors collections to established goals to maximize cash flow and to monitor claim submission to provide ongoing process assessment and resolution
  • Establishes and maintains policies and procedures that will ensure the completeness and accuracy of billing and accounts receivable and consistency in revenue recognition
  • Oversees the evaluation of the allowance for doubtful accounts receivable; communicates to management any significant increase or decrease in the needed allowance
  • Oversees the analysis and recording of revenue adjustments, write offs and denial activity; provides reporting on trends to management along with suggestions to mitigate future write offs and denied claims
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business/Healthcare Mgmt.
  • Min 15 years related experience in a healthcare or social service environment
  • Experience in managing teams and supervising staff
  • Proven ability to evaluate, improve, and implement systems
  • Ability to design, analyze and present user-friendly reports
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with EHR/Billing Software -Netsmart myAvatar preferred
  • Ability to travel to attend or participate in conferences, meet with funders, engage staff, and conduct business
