Mainstay United is a supervised community-based residential program designed to provide a range of established and innovative rehabilitation strategies for adults with developmental disabilities. The program focuses on community and personal safety, accountability, competence, normalization, and due process. 

The Residential Support Staff is responsible for safety and supervision of the adult consumers with clients with Intellectual Disabilities and Mental Health disabilities to facilitate healthy and socially acceptable behaviors while living in community-based sites. This position will coordinate with clinical staff, implement residentially based interventions and assist the clients in achieving their clinical assignments. The RSS is responsible for fulfilling the obligations as outlined in the client's program plan. The RSS will prompt or assist, as necessary, to ensure the clients participate in the activities of daily living, in both the home and the community. This includes healthcare coordination and transportation. In addition the RSS is responsible for the operations of the home, including but not limited to maintenance of the interior and exterior of the home. A commitment to the RHD values should be demonstrated as job duties are performed.
Job Duties:

  • Supervise the clients according to planned supervision levels
  • Follow all therapeutic guidelines as outlined by the clinical team and weekly staff approach notes
  • Implement the goal plans from the individualized support plan (ISP)
  • Support and encourage consumers in daily life skill development such as meal planning, cooking/food preparation, cleaning and maintaining the home, shopping, academics, socialization, utilizing community resources, vocational, social and interpersonal development, etc.
  • Assist with the coordination of client appointments and activities, and community events (ie. arranging transport and/or assist clients to and from appointments, coordinate needed funds with the Site Supervisor, etc.)
  • Support consumers in achieving outcomes during psycho-educational groups and clubs and enhance social skills as directed by clinician
  • Complete and review all necessary documentation
  • Provide transportation and access to approved in home and community activities
  • Administer consumer medication as prescribed (after completion of Medication Administration Training), and complete all corresponding documentation
  • Provide emergency medical procedures as needed, including Basic First Aid, and CPR (after completion of CPR Training)
  • Maintain supervision level and appropriate therapeutic boundaries at all times
  • Represent the Mainstay program in a professional manner at all times
Knowledge, Skills & Physical Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the impact of trauma on the well-being of the individuals receiving services, as well as the impact on staff well-being preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form
  • Ability to engage clients in effective, therapeutic, and healthy interactions
  • Ability to maintain professional and therapeutic boundaries
  • Ability to perform crisis intervention techniques as required
  • Ability to engage consumers who may become physically aggressive
  • Ability to maintain high levels of vigilance for extended time periods
  • Capacity to lift individuals for the purpose of transfers
Educational, Certifications & License Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Valid driver's license; and acceptable driving record and reliable transportation
  • State police clearance, and FBI clearance
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Medication Administration certification
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training
