Job Description

New Perspectives is seeking a Mental Health Professional (MHP) for our Stroudsburg location. THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN THE STROUDSBURG AREA, APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES NORTH OF PHILADELPHIA, PA.

An eight-bed, short-term residential program for adults in Carbon, Monroe and Pike counties. The program provides supervised mental health stabilization services as an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization for individuals who are in psychiatric crisis, or who may need to be removed from a stressful environment while supports are identified to ensure stability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Consumer Care including spending at least 75% of scheduled time in direct, face to face or telephone interactions with consumers
  • Conduct psycho-educational, skills training, and supportive crisis counseling in residence or community
  • Observe all scheduled and as needed (PRN) medication observations and assist as directed by Residential Nurse i.e. blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.
  • Community Involvement and Team Work including but not limited to providing referral and other case management services for consumers and families at times of contacts ; either on the phone, in the community, or in the residence prior to discharge
  • Residential Crisis Specific Duties including but not limited to early walking, daily planning, meal preparation and clean-up, maintaining necessary scheduled appointments that have been approved by supervisory team member
  • Mobile Crisis Specific Duties including serving in a consultative and collaborative role with community personnel who are also involved in the provision of crisis services such as emergency room physicians, nurses, police officers, ambulance crew members, staff or partial programs, community agencies, etc
  • Telephone Crisis Specific Duties including screening incoming calls, providing appropriate telephone counseling, consultation, assessment and referral to needed services including Mobile and/or Residential Crisis Intervention services.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Services
  • At least 5 years of related work experience of which 2 years are in direct  supervisory experience
  • Must have a valid Driver's License to receive consideration. Hours vary.
