Job Description

Resources for Human Development is seeking to hire a Lead Direct Support Professional to work directly with individuals dually diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities and pervasive mental illness living in the Wexford Area.

The Lead Direct Support Professional is directly responsible for the safety and supervision of individuals served by RHD Community Passages. This position will assist with residentially based interventions and work alongside consumers with activities of daily living both in the home and in the community.  In addition, the LDSP will assist the Residential Supervisor in the daily operation of the home. The Lead Direct Support Professional will act as a mentor for DSP staff  in regards to the expectations of how the job duties should be performed, the attitude to maintain while at work and appropriate interactions with consumers and other professionals.

Duties include, but are not limited to, providing instruction, assistance and role modeling in life skill areas of leisure time, financial management, medication monitoring, crisis management, accessing community resources, community engagement, shopping, staff scheduling, organization of medical appointments, and vocational development.

Starting salary range: $12.00 to $13.25/hr (more in some areas).  In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a HS/GED minimally, additional education and/or a minimum of two years human services experience preferred.  A valid Driver's License is required to receive consideration. Prior experience/education in a social services field is preferred as well has a history or knowledge of working with adults with significant mental illness. Program specific training will be provided.
