Job purpose
Center for Creative Works is a supported Art Center located in Wynnewood, PA. We are a creative day program for adults with intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to foster the vocation of artist for our population while promoting their art and design work through marketing and exhibitions. We are currently seeking an Employment Specialist to work with several individuals on a one-on-one basis in an off site location to assist with their goals of Self Employed Artist or, in some cases, to find competitive employment. This is a unique position for someone with experience supporting people with disabilities in job finding and job support.  It also requires some creative experience and studio skills including basic use of a sewing machine.
This is a part time position with the potential to quickly move to a full time position.

Duties and responsibilities
 
The following is an itemized list that includes but is not limited to: 
  • Assist in the identification of community-based opportunities for individuals seeking to promote their self-run business. 
  • Help program participants understand their skills, interest and aptitude to determine appropriate products and business model
  • Create merchandise prototypes that can be adapted for the client to make independently OR identify reselling opportunities
  • Assist client in all areas of acquiring product specific skills and the creation of products.
  • Attend community events several times a year, with client, to sell products.
  • Assist participants in identifying realistic work objectives
  • Structure efforts to create a complete small business plan. 
  • Maintain effective communication with all parties involved with the participant's program
  • Plan transportation and travel training
  • Gather Social Security and Benefits Analysis (BPQY)
  • Prepare case records and reports including daily service documentation and inventory
  • Act as intermediary between worker and customers
  • Design and implement HCBS compliant community-based work opportunities
  • Assist artists in inventory production including use of a sewing machine. 
  • Maintain the off-site studio location.
 
Qualifications
 
Qualifications include:
  • Minimum 2 years experience serving individuals with IDD, Autism, SMI in community inclusion, technical skills acquisition and employment
  • Thorough understanding of inclusive practices
  • ACRE Cert or CESP (Preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must possess good organizational skills 
  • Some experience in the arts including ability to use a sewing machine
  • Reliable and self-sufficient. Able to work responsibly on your own in an off-site location
  •  
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Must be able to handle flexible work arrangements
  • Willing to travel throughout Philadelphia and surrounding counties
  • Must possess a valid drivers' license and have access to a reliable vehicle
  • Must be computer proficient and able to use Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Must have or be willing to acquire PA Criminal Check, PA Child Abuse clearance, and FBI fingerprinting
  • Must be able to work weekend shifts if needed
  • Must be able to work evening shifts if needed
 
Working conditions
 
The Employment Specialist will have a reliable vehicle, current insurance, vehicle registration, and current physical.
