Position Summary
Do you like exploring your community? Do you enjoy helping others? Then a Direct Support Professional for our Supported Living Services is the right job for you!

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our Supported Living Services at Resources for Human Development, you will provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a supported home, apartment, or community environment. Successful candidates must be enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated to assist others in building better lives for themselves, their families and their community.

In this position, you will assist the individual in leading a self-determined lifestyle by providing support and information necessary to live more independently. This would include helping them with meal planning and preparation, household chores, setting goals, building self-esteem, and going on community outings.

Please keep in mind that schedules are determined based on the needs of the clients and may include morning, evening, night, and weekend hours.  The most common supported living hours are early mornings, afternoons into evenings, and weekends.
Current Position Hours Available:
1)  Monday through Saturday 4-7:30pm
2)  Wednesday 3-8p and Saturday 11-4p
3)  Tuesday 3:15-6p, Friday 3:15-6p, and Saturday 4 hours of your availability

Essential Duties and Functions

-Interact with individuals on a one-to-one basis providing guidance and support in facilitating a healthy lifestyle.

-Participate in monthly meetings to obtain the most updated care information for each person supported and other employment related policy information.

-Teach new skills and document progress for persons supported in accordance with the Individual Support Plans, Behavior Support Plans, and other areas of need as assigned.

-Complete daily documentation (ISP data, etc.)

-Maintain certifications required to work in an individualized setting (CPR, First Aid, Med Aid)

-Utilize knowledge about the diverse challenges facing individuals (i.e. human rights) and ensure individuals supported have the opportunity to engage in personal choice.

-Pursues knowledge and information necessary to perform job duties as based on the needs and interests of individuals supported.

-Other duties may be assigned as necessary to complete the mission of the agency or serve the needs of the population.

-Paid Time off

-Opportunity for full benefits after 90 days for full time employees (30+ hours per week)


Daily local travel may be required, but mileage is reimbursed.

19 years of age or older
High school diploma required
Field experience preferred, but not required
Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance
Reliable, safe transportation while on shift.  This includes the ability to safely travel up to 30 highway and/or city miles in all road and weather conditions
Able to complete and maintain all necessary training and certification requirements
Demonstrate the ability to work independently with a minimum supervision
Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form
Physical requirements
Lifting Requirements:
Medium: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
