THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY AREA, APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES NORTH OF PHILADELPHIA, PA.

The Hope Springs program promotes consumer independence and personal growth by providing permanent residences in a supportive environment for individuals living with serious and persistent mental illness.  Hope Springs has an uncompromising commitment to quality and integrity to help our consumers live happy and fulfilling lives. 

Hope Springs is looking for a full-time residential counselor for overnight.  The shift runs from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
 
Summary

Under the authority of the Program Director, the Overnight Residential Counselor assures that all operating policies, procedures and regulations (PA Title Reg 5310) are followed. The Overnight Residential Counselor will work as a team with all employees of Hope Springs to provide services to adults with serious and persistent mental illness. The Overnight Residential Counselor is responsible for direct services with consumers, significant others and collateral resources in providing assistance, counseling, planning and implementation of daily living skills programs and routines for all consumers.  

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• To assess continuously the safety of the consumers, considering issues such as suicidal/homicidal ideation, impulsivity, health related issues, choking risks, universal precautions, etc., and for implementing proper crisis intervention when needed.
• To assume primary responsibility for observing that consumers take medication according to the Medication Observation policy and documenting this in the electronic medical record.   
• To assist consumers in developing healthy sleep patterns, including training in the use of relaxation techniques and related skills, and to work as needed with consumers who are not able to sleep. 
• To check bedrooms and document every hour on overnight as well as assist consumers with incontinence issues as needed.
• To maintain a safe environment; to identify and resolve maintenance problems; and to maintain the homes in accordance with acceptable community standards for cleanliness and in accordance with all safety standards of the program.  Residential Counselors need to perform clean-up and maintenance duties as assigned on the chore list.
• To maintain strict consumer confidentiality.
• To attend scheduled supervision meetings, staff meetings and trainings.
• To count petty cash and controlled substances at each shift change. 

• High school diploma or equivalency; some college coursework in a mental health or related field is preferred 
• Mental Health experience is preferred
• Valid PA Driver's License and reliable transportation
