Description/Job Summary

Resources for Human Development Louisiana is seeking an Addictions Specialist II for the Metropolitan Assertive Community Treatment Team 1 (MACT1) Program. This is a community based program that serves consumers with severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse, and/or developmental disabilities in the Greater New Orleans area. Each member of the MACT1 team holds a specific role but all members of the team work collaboratively to support consumers in their individualized recovery goals.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide clinical treatment for mental health and substance abuse/dependence;
  • Incorporate recovery based and harm reduction strategies into therapeutic work with consumers;
  • Utilize motivational enhancement therapy and stages of change techniques;
  • Facilitate recovery groups;
  • Complete progress notes, assessments, individualized recovery plans, etc.;
  • Meet with consumers in their homes/community
  • Provide case management
  • Transport consumers to various appointments in the community;
  • Participate in a rotating, after hours on-call schedule with other team members;
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the MACT1 team in supporting consumers in their wellness goals; etc.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have a minimum of an LMSW. PLPC, or LAC
  • A valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle for use on the job.  
  • Prior clinical experience working with individuals with addictive disorders is required.
  • Prior experience with in-home work is preferred, as well as experience working with a dually diagnosed population.  
  • This position requires applicants to have a high degree of professional development skills, patience, flexibility, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy, timeliness in documentation, on-time work arrival to daily morning meetings, and the ability to work amicably in a team based environment.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position. The hourly rate is $21.63 plus benefits and mileage and cell phone reimbursement.
